Teen Critically Injured in Hit and Run

On Wednesday July 13, a teen was critically injured in a hit and run incident in Kansas City.

According to authorities, the incident happened in Kessler Park at Reservoir and Lookout Point Drive at 4.30 a.m. It appears that Keontay Cheffen was hanging out with the four suspects in the incident when there was a disagreement. It seems that the suspects were in a stolen vehicle and drove at Cheffen and another friend. Cheffen pushed the friend to safety, but was then hit himself although the driver claims they did not mean to hit him.

Cheffen was seriously injured in the crash and was taken to Truman Medical Center with severe head trauma. There doctors are keeping him on a ventilator in a medically induced coma in an attempt to reduce the swelling and bleeding in his brain.

The incident is still under investigation.
