On Monday, February 8, a person died in an overnight rollover wreck on the Interstate.
According to Kansas City police, the accident happened around 12.30 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of the I 70 near the sports complex.
Johnny Wilson was driving an SUV eastbound and was just west of Blue Ridge Cutoff when he lost control and the vehicle rolled. It then hit the median and ended up in the west bound lanes of the Interstate on its side.
Wilson was ejected and died from his injuries and the police are investigating why he lost control.
When the police were responding, one officer was also involved in a crash when he was at the scene in his patrol car with his emergency lights operating and another vehicle rear ended his patrol car. Both the officer and the other car’s driver were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
