On Wednesday, May 18 the body of a pedestrian was found in Kansas City.
According to police the body was found around 5.30 a.m. at the Flying J near I-435 and Front Street. Police believe that a pedestrian, who may have been homeless, fell asleep underneath a tractor-trailer parked in the back of the parking lot. When the driver later pulled his truck out to leave, he ran over the man and killed him. Police believe the trucker might not know they killed someone since these trailers are so heavy.
Police say that the injuries were substantial and the victim, whose identity has not been released; only that he was a male, died immediately at the scene
Investigators are still working to identify the victim and talking to witnesses in order to identify the driver. In addition they plan to look at surveillance video to try and identify the driver, but they are not hopeful they will be able to identify him as there as so many truckers passing through.
